History of Mountain Park

Our chapter was started when the masons at Mountain Park Lodge wanted to start a DeMolay chapter in our area. The son of one of the Masons, Phil Reid, was initiated, along with his friend Mike Bowden, into Panthersville Chapter at the Grand Master's Class of 1988. They soon invited many of their friends from Parkview High School to join and eventually branched off to be their own chapter, Mountain Park. When the nearby Tucker Chapter folded, Mountain Park took on the remaining members from Tucker. Because of the joining of the two chapters, Mountain Park had enough members to receive their charter. From there our chapter has grown and become one of the strongest in the state of Georgia. Phil Reid was elected the first Master Councilor, and went on to become the first DeMolay of the Year and State Master Councilor from our chapter.
